Window Tint Types
There are different types of window tint to appease to different budgets and needs. The primary options are; Dyed, Metalized, Hybrid, Carbon, and Nano-ceramic.

Dyed Window Tint:
Dyed window tinting consists of multiple layers of dyed film designed to absorb sunlight attempting to penetrate the windows. The level of darkness can be adjusted according to personal preference like the other types of film. Dyed tint the most common and affordable type of window tint. However, it is important to note that dyed tints offer limited UV protection and heat blockage. Over time, they may fade, reducing their effectiveness. Some high quality examples of Dyed window are Xpel’s CS line and LLumar’s Comfort Line.

Metalized Window Tint:
Metalized tints, as the name suggests, contain metal microparticles that use reflection to keep out sunlight rather than absorption. These tints are more effective than dyed options and are highly scratch-resistant. Additionally, they enhance window strength, making them less prone to shattering. Despite these benefits, metal particles can interfere with radio or GPS signals, which should be considered when choosing this type of tint.

Hybrid Window Tint:
Hybrid window tints combine dyed layers with a thin metal layer, usually titanium, providing a balance between dyed and metalized tinting. They offer reduced radio interference compared to fully metalized tints and lack the mirror-like appearance. While more affordable than metalized tints, hybrids are pricier than dyed ones.

Carbon Window Tint:
Carbon window tints incorporate carbon fiber particles that resist fading over time. More effective than dyed or metallic tints at blocking sunlight, carbon tinting also has strong insulating properties, reducing the vehicle’s internal temperature by about 40 percent. Despite being more expensive, the durability and extended lifespan may justify the additional cost.

Ceramic Window Tint: Our Favorite!
Ceramic window tint surpasses all others in performance, blocking over 99 percent of UV rays without containing dyes or metal particles. This results in no fading over time and no interference with radio signals. Ceramic particles do not conduct heat, providing superior sunlight reflection and increased insulation. This makes ceramic tint the most effective at reducing heat impact on the car’s internal temperature by about half. Additionally, ceramic tints enhance window performance, reducing glare without the need for a very dark tint. However, it is there is a cost to match this performance as it does represent the gold standard in window tinting. Some high quality examples of Nano-ceramic window tints are Xpel’s XR line (XR, XR Plus) and LLumar’s Pinnacle and Stratos line.
